Ahem. Make that "Helpdesk."

So, this is what it takes to get me to update my LiveJournal (after, I might add, almost a full year of near-inactivity). Sitting at the UNet Helpdesk on the Late Late Shift. Nobody has called in this whole time, so I've been playing old computer games on the Helpdesk iMac. Luckily I've got and to keep me company.

Normally we don't have a 10pm-2am shift at the Helpdesk, but Brandeis just got a new registration system and today is Round 1 of registration, so we've kept the desk open during all the registration hours: 6am-2am. Yuck. This makes 9 hours total I'm spending at the desk today. Not that I'm really complaining; I volunteered for this. Idiot that I am.

Sigh. I guess I can't complain; after all, I'm getting paid to sit here and play old video games, and occasionally let people use the back room telephone or lend them the stapler. And I've done worse types of shifts before, like 6am-8am on WBRS all of freshman year, in which I played children's music and pretended to be on a sugar high the whole time, which, given that I usually ate a fluffernutter beforehand, wasn't that big of a stretch. At the moment my fuel-of-choice is a large mocha Javalanche which I consumed a couple hours ago and am still rather buzzed from.

So what do I do? I make my first real LJ post in about a year. w00t.

If I think of anything else worthwhile to say, or am bored enough, maybe I'll make another post. We'll see. If you're reading this and it's before 2am on March 26, 2004, call the helpdesk and say hi! 781-529-UNET, option 1.
