John C. Dvorak
March 29, 2007
Ah, John C. Dvorak. My week would not be complete without your divine presence.
Seriously, this guy is smoking the good crack, and I want some.
(For those not aware: this is the guy who claimed that the mouse would never catch on because “there is no evidence that anyone would want to use these things,” that Apple would soon be dropping Mac OS X and switching to Windows to save costs, and that Windows XP’s “System Idle” process was taking up 99% of his CPU.)

I used to look forward to his rants in PC Magazine about how terrible various products were, complete with random emphasized words, and names. even back in High School I could tell he was clueless
Heh. That’s actually a really good facsimile of the way he used to write.
It’s actually pretty fun.
The problem with Microsoft’s new OS, Vista, is that the box is filled with bees. Unlike offerings from competing developer Apple, the Microsoft product team has not offered me a large enough bribe to say good things about their software
I would totally buy Vista if it came with a box of bees. I would give it to my little brother as a birthday present.
gosh yeah… he’s a fool forever.
theory: once a speculative personality is proven wrong consistently for more than a decade, the only solution is wild, wrong-headed self-parody.
i also love any and all people who dismiss apple as a fashion company. because the more the idiot competition ignores the underlying (post-)humanistic design philosophy and focuses on posh casings, the more apple is going to sweep up and continue to lead. Apple’s real competitors are its admirers: big quirky companies like Google, and small quirky companies like Panic.
Was he the guy who said DOS was a bad idea or was that before his time? Maybe they’re related?
