A Moving Post

May 7, 2008

So, this now seems settled enough for me to officially announce it: this June, Viktoriya and I will be moving to lovely* Fitchburg, Massachusetts!

We’re going to be renting a condo in Bridle Cross Estates, a fairly new development on the outskirts of town.  Here’s a picture:

That’s not a faked picture; our street really does look like that.

So yeah, come visit us (once we live there)!  It’s a really, really nice place.  And Fitchburg isn’t as far away as you think.  Seriously, I tried the commute this morning: door-to-door, it’s about 50 minutes from Somerville in no traffic, and 1 hour 10 minutes in traffic.

* OK, so Fitchburg itself isn’t really that lovely.  But just outside of Fitchburg there are some pretty nice neighborhoods, and this is one of them.

And what about those of us who don’t live in Firchburg, eh?

So, what prompted the move? You guys just got to Somerville! (relatively speaking)

Grr, I meant, what about the commute for those of us who don’t live in _Somerville_

What prompted the move is that Viktoriya’s going to be attending Antioch New England, which is in Keene, NH, for her doctorate in clinical psychology. Yay Vik!

For those of you who live in, say, Framingham, Google claims that the trip there is about 57 minutes. I’m not really familiar with the roads they’re taking you on (495 and 190, mostly), so I can’t confirm or deny that. I imagine the trip is quite similar to if you’re visiting some people you might know in, say, Lunenburg. :)

How far is it from the commuter rail?

Sally: it’s about 3 miles from the Fitchburg commuter rail station. But the likely scenario is I’m not going to be taking the commuter rail, since I discovered that driving saves me about 45 minutes each way, and a parking pass at the One Kendall Square garage is actually _cheaper_ than a monthly MBTA Commuter Rail pass.
