LARPer Resume

May 5, 2010

Baaaaa, I’m a sheep.  All my friends are putting up LARP resumes.  I already have a LARP CV up on my web site, but that one’s about LARP running, conventioneering and stuff like that.  In this one, I’m going to list all the LARPs I’ve ever played (that I remember).

Following what seems to be the popular format amongst my friends, * means this was one of my favorite experiences playing a LARP.  % means I particularly disliked playing this game.  Breaking with tradition a bit, I’m going to separate out another mark: @ means I have a rant about this game (positive, negative, neither – this just denotes that I have a lot to say about this one).

Also note: I’ve redacted things that could be possible spoilers, but left them possible to see, by writing them in white-on-white with a black underline, so you can highlight it to see, like this: “Rosebud” was a sled.

    Now I feel young and stuff. :P That’s quite a resume!

    At some point I want to hit you up for info about why the second run of Shebop was a star for you. Cause, y’know, that character is not somewhere I’d normally think of casting you. And I didn’t realize you’d enjoyed the game that much, and hey, I’m an attention whore.

      You think that makes you feel young? My larp resume goes back another 6 years over that…

      And now I feel old. Oh right. I am.

    Yeah, it’s kind of weird that the game only became a favorite on the replay. I think one reason is because the improv troupe in run 2 was just incredibly good. But also, while you’re absolutely right that that character isn’t what I’d normally ask for, or be cast as, I found I did really enjoy playing him… go figure?

    In my case, I think knowing game secrets actually helped me the second time around, because I didn’t have any illusions about what I was supposed to do or what was likely to happen.

    I’m really happy you enjoyed the games I was involved with writing and running. I’d also really love to hear your rants sometimes, good and bad.

    I believe that in 2009 you played LoB2 as Gary Coleman.

    And I do not believe I could participate in this survey. I do not remember every LARP I have played in the past 21 years. :P

      @Mike: D’oh! How could I forget LoB2?! Fixed now.
