Irene

A song composed during 6Pi-Con, the convention held during Hurricane Irene.  Fortunately for everyone at the con, Irene didn’t affect northern Connecticut too badly, so this song is largely a work of fiction.

To the tune of Irene Goodnight

I went down to the convention
For to see the geeks at play
The weather there it was so nice
I could not help but stay

I went to check out the vendors
I went to play some games
But I did not expect the special guest
She was a hurricane

CHORUS:
Irene goodnight
Irene goodnight
Goodnight Irene goodnight Irene
I’ll see you in my dreams

The rain came down in torrents
We could not leave the hotel
I said “should I extend my stay”
They said “you might as well”

CHORUS

Filkers sleep in the filk room
Vendors sleep in the hall
LARPers sleep with all their gear
And con staff don’t sleep at all

And me, I sleep in the con suite
I have nowhere to stay
I can’t go back to Boston now
My house has blown away

CHORUS

Thanks! Next time Stranger Ways gets together, I highly doubt you will be able to stop me. :-D

Coming down to the One Desk in time to join in with a chorus of this was a high point of my 6Pi-Con Sunday.Very clever!!! That song had been running through my head all weekend. :-D
