Something strange occurred to me just as I was about to fall asleep last night. This probably won't make "Bartlett's Familiar Quotations" or anything, but it might make "Deep Thoughts With Jack Handy." Not that this is much of a distinction. But, apparently, judging by the quality of my deep thoughts, I'm not much of a philosopher.

We all know that chickens don't have lips. We've been told this over and over again by various aspects of pop culture. The question is, isn't it a fairly obvious fact that birds of any kind don't have lips? I mean, they have beaks. And chickens are birds. So why is it such a well-known fact that chickens don't have lips?
