Restaurant review Jan 18, 2002
The fair village of Hastings-on-Hudson is no longer without a pizza joint. Well, technically, we had La Vera, but that's not pizza. It's very good food, but pizza, it ain't. And we haven't had real pizza since the fire in Villagio's building. But now a new restaurant opened up in King Pizza's old space.
So now we have Pizza Grill, which just opened up on Wednesday. I had lunch there today. It wasn't too bad, but it wasn't great, either. But I guess it's not really fair to pass judgment on them in the first week. Hopefully things will improve. Right now it's at the level of "Boston OK," which is equivalent to "New York Bad." With some work, it could be better… the crust is ridiculously thin right now (I like thin pizza, but this is like paper-thin), and the sauce is really bland. But maybe with time they'll improve.
At any rate, it's nice to have something resembling pizza in town again.
